Known for his early morning tweets, the new US president elect Donald Trump’s former Samsung Galaxy smartphone is said to be a security risk and was replaced by top secret Secret Service approved smartphone.
Before we get into this report lets all take a moment to acknowledge how cool it is that Trump uses an Android powered Samsung Galaxy smartphone and not an iPhone or an outdated Blackberry like Obama did. Even if you hate the guy, you got to appreciate his taste in smartphones.
Reports are that last year, President Obama’s Blackberry was also replaced by a similar device that Trump will be using, but despite the high level of security the device wasn’t as smart as we would have thought. It is said that Obama’s high security smartphone was unable to take photos, send texts or load and play music, all these features were removed in the interest of security.
Obviously this new smartphone that President Donald Trump will be using might not allow him to send out early morning tweets, but hopefully he might have a backup device hidden on his person at all times that will allow for such leisure time activities.
It is uncertain who manufactured the top secret smartphone that both former US President Barack Obama and now president Donald Trump will be using, a report suggests that Obama’s top secret smartphone might have been a custom Samsung Galaxy S4 device stripped of its features, and some say it might have been a more secure Blackberry.
This new/ old secure smartphone that will be used by the US president is already living up to it’s name since not even it’s manufacturer is known.
One of the few known devices that were used and approved by the Defense Information Systems Agency of America is the General Dynamics Sectera Edge, a Windows CE-based mobile PDA smartphone.
“The Sectéra® Edge™ smartphone combines secure wireless voice and data with the functionality of a wireless phone and PDA all in one easy-to-use hand-held device. The Sectéra Edge is certified to protect wireless voice communications classified Top Secret and below as well as access e-mail and websites classified Secret and below.”
There is slim chance that the Sectera edge is the US president’s top secret smartphone since the device was discontinued back in 2015, but it could have very well gotten an upgraded version which is now in use.
